Review Comment:
   So this block is me trying to have a single `future.completeExceptionally()` 
call in this code block. We are catching `UnknownServerException` and any 
exception that might be returned by the server in its response. The generic 
catch handler can be avoided by not throwing the exceptions returned by the 
server, and instead just completing exceptionally within the block above. I 
just find it more maintainable to have single calls to completions etc. If this 
is creating some other issues in the code, i can change this.
