This is calling `FileRawSnapshotReader#sizeInBytes` which in turn calls
`FileRecords#sizeInBytes` which is just calling the `FileChannel` method you
mention. The readSnapshot method doesn't actually read the snapshot, it just
returns the reader object (maybe we should rename that for clarity)
