7.0 is the latest stable branch of SqueezePlay, currently at version 7.0.1. Both 7.1 and 7.2 are unstable development branches. The both will include new features and bug fixes, 7.1 will be released sooner than 7.2. The desktop version of SqueezePlay, including the audio playback, are planned in for the 7.2 release. Yes, but SqueezePlay also includes the Controller UI so you'll be able to control the music in the SqueezePlay application as well.
