I'm guessing that the issue for Logitech is to convince themselves that
they will earn money on this. There is no reason for them to do it
unless they think they will sell more hardware units if they offer these
binaries for download.

Would people be willing to pay for this service ?
Maybe Logitech could do it but you would have to pay $10 or something
similar if you like to download the binary. It would still be open
source because you have access to the source and can build it yourself
if you don't think it's worth $10.

Would this be an alternative ?
