Ben, My controller got all mucked up over the weekend using a recent firmware build. Initially all looked fine, but it went to sleep when I left it down and after it came out of standby, ALL the menus were completely messed up.
A reboot wouldn't fix it, and I couldn't get it to downgrade using a backup jive.bin on the SD card. I had to use Vol+ to revert to an earlier firmware losing all my settings. So your fix of rebooting the controller may only be temporary.
