The only way I have managed to get SqueezePlay working on my Ubuntu machine was to compile the tarball following the instructions posted here http://www.jfwhome.com/2009/11/22/compiling-squeezeplay-on-linux-ubuntu-amd64/ The only changes I made was to change 7.5 to 7.6 for the repos and the tar command at the end needs to be sudo or ran as root. Further down in the replies you will see how to get sound working by purging pulseaudio. Good luck.
