No, no! Not User Parameters.

Variables in the test plan:
- Select the "Test Plan" in the tree.
- Press the "Add" button which is about the center of the right-hand pannel.
- Enter name: "host", value "www.your-domain.com"
- ... you can probably guess the rest ...

It worked last time I had to use it.

Good luck,

Jordi.

I've tried it and it simply doesn't work.
I'm using JMeter v. 1.8.
I've tried putting the User Parameter inside the Thread Group and inside the Test Plan--nothing works.
The value of Name is SERVER, and the value of User_1 is localhost. And I run a Tomcat on my own computer, so my browser goes to localhost:8080. The port number for the HTTP proxy server is set to 8090. Recording works fine, but I don't get localhost replaced by ${SERVER}--which is what I expected. Any help out there?

If you define a couple of variables in your Test Plan matching the server name and port number, the HTTP Proxy Server will very cleverly use those in lieu of the actual servername and port number.

Then you can just change those values to get what you want.

Salut,

Jordi.

When I record something using the HTTP Proxy Server I get the servername and port number recorded in each and every HTTP request. Is there some way to avoid this so I can later set the servername (and port number) in the HTTP Request Defaults? I've heard that it should be possible by using the User Parameters, but I've not been able to make it work.
Appreciate any help from you.
