I think this thread also relates to the other one -- about the problem with
transparent images.

Graeme, basically what you are asking for is the idea of "skins". With the
fix I just added, there should be no problem positioning four corner images
using

set echo topLeft  [0 100%]
set echo topLeft IMAGE "topLeft.gif"

set echo topRight  [100 100%]
set echo topRight IMAGE "topRight.gif"

etc.

The image will be positioned correctly to be right in the corner, and the
desired pixels will be transparent.

I don't see any need to create all new shapes for this sort of thing. Hope
you agree.
