OK. I confirm your observation. The scroll wheel makes much larger adjustments in the size than the shift-left mouse method. The latter looks almost smooth whereas the scroll wheel looks jerky. I am a heavy user of Spartan and compared with that. There both methods of zooming are approximately the same.
