Hello- I
use a lecture graphic approach that places a number of Jmol
applets into DOM objects on a page. These applets are subsequently modified via
_javascript_ and “Rasmol,” including DOM
hide/show sequences. This all works well in MSIE and Firefox,
but in Opera, an applet containing object reverts to the original default
molecule following any DOM hide/show. I think the three browsers that I am
using to check this are all using the same version of Java (1.5.0_06). Does
anyone know if this apparent redrawing of the original model is just a standard
feature of the Opera implementation of Java applets? I’d also appreciate
any suggestions for a work-around in Opera. I like to provide my students with
three browser options for lecture graphics – Opera, Firefox,
and MSIE. One
note about the hide/show behavior: MSIE and Firefox
are lightning fast after the first hide/show, thus allowing flip-card animation
by flipping through the applets with a hide/show sequence. Opera goes through a
slow applet loading sequence with each hide/show. Again, is this just the way
it is with Opera? Thanks in advance for any advice. Regards, Otis -- Otis Rothenberger Department of Chemistry http://chemagic.org |
