PS : I believed at first it was just an interesting way to add captions interactively to the applet, which I thought would be great for students (add captions and labels intuitively to a model before exporting a picture).

I'm trying out a new idea with the latest incarnation of Jmol, at http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/docs/examples-11/new.htm

click on the applet and then carefully type:

background white [enter]

or

set showKeyStrokes

then type into the applet

What do you think?
Any reason this should not be the default behavior of Jmol?
