MacInTouch Reader
Months of delay, serious overhype. All for nothing.
The Leap Motion is horrible. It does not work out of the box; the installer/app
attempts connections to random web sites (TMZ.com of all things). Little Snitch
went crazy with alerts. Kept asking me where the Growl app was by a name
different than the one I had installed; would not accept that different choice.
It refused to work with any software I tried. After 5 installs I gave up and
physically threw it in the trash.
Great idea; terrible delivery. I wonder if they can find jobs at another
startup after this fiasco.
Do not buy the Leap. It's a waste of money and time.

The Leap Motion application loads at startup, even when the controller device
is not connected. This application is not in Login Items, and there is no
obvious way to prevent it from launching or uninstall it.
Connected, it makes my 8GB Mac Mini run at full fan-speed, something that no
collection of launched applications has been able to do.
The lengthy user training procedure for the Touchless app seems to have little
effect on the device's so-far poor performance as a touchpad.
The printed "Important Information Guide" contains mostly legal and compliance
text. But it also includes some setup and care instructions that the company
could not possibly have intended anyone to read, as it is all in utterly
microscopic type.
