What I am missing in cycling the history buffer is the empty entry 
everything started with. With the current implementation one has to 
delete the content from the history buffer before being able to type a 
new command after taking a look into the history, maybe accidentally. 
And since the history buffer is cycled endlessly (or until the user 
stops, of course) the empty input field could also be used as an 
indicator for having reached the beginning/end of the buffer.
And besides it feels strange for users familiar with comannd-line shells 
like tcsh, bash or mysql.
