Through some trial-and-error I was able to identify that it's actually the
Adguard Adblock extension that is causing problems -- if I disable it for
that domain, the website works perfectly well.

I'll check around and see if it's specific to my site or a broader issue
with jsmol, but this is a popular extension, I imagine if this was a
widespread issue more would have reported it by now.
