Hi everybody,

some days ago I joined the list to provide a implementation of the
French Revolution calendar to Joda Time Project.
After I deep-dive into the code I found I big gap in the current
implementation.

Actually the names of month and days will be read from
java.text.DateFormatSymbols, but for Gregorian Chronology only. No other
chronology has locales, i.e. Islamic Chronology.

I would be nice to create a generic solution for this issue.

From my point of view we need a Locale Manager which can return the
names and short names based on
    - Locale
    - Chronology
    - Field type (day,month,...)

probably also the date is relevant. French Rev. Calendar has some extra
days with different names than "usual" days.

What do you think about my suggestion?

Regards,
Axel Biernat
