I am trying of course, Last year I convinced my friends to use FOSS
instead of the commercial ones for their graduation project. I have my
brother right now in college, and I'm teaching him and his friends how
to do development under GNU/Linux and introduce them to FOSS
alternatives. I could do more but unfortunately I work abroad and this
is it for now. But its true that things must be done on a wider range.
It also needs support from the schools managements and interest from
the students themselves. For example, some might say that most of the
graduates are having a rough time finding jobs, and all the companies
right now are looking for fresh graduates with ready skills in .Net
and Web development (mostly Microsoft products). So their only concern
is how to get a job, and their only option is to learn .Net. This is
the sad story. The market must be open minded too.

By the way, Abdallah's Idea is really good. This could be one of the
things we could do for the FOSS day event.
