Exactly, Ala'a this is totally write. And ya know what? just to make things clear, real open source geeks, in my opinion are like poets.
A poet's main goal of writing poetry, in most cases not all of 'em though, is NOT in publishing his books, or what we call in Arabic "dawaween", and sell them for money. But in fact, he writes poetry because he LOVES poetry, and also because he wants to show the world how much of a great poet he is. And this is exactly what happens with open source geeks, they write code, because they literally "L.O.V.E" writing code. Now, if they want gain some money out of their art, it's up to them, and this will be more like a side-effect of their love for writing code. But, the question is, have you heard about the new philosophy adopted by the General Public License? It's called "Copyleft", an opposite term to "Copyright".. In short, it just guarantees, that what was open-source STAYS open- source.
