Yeah, as pointed out, I don't think George was being literal
about the pope in 1970, maybe just questioning the notion that
religiousity comes from institutions, as opposed to a personal
experience. But then I guess you'd have to ask him.
As to the plagarism lawsuit which he lost, he did admit that
he may have 'subconsciously' lifted the song 'He's So Fine'.
They are very similar in chord structure and melody.
Paul McCartney later said he should have known better,
meaning perhaps he knew he was taking a chance by not
crediting the original songwriter(s), which would have averted
the problem.
I don't think anyone can speculate on the relationship between
George and Patti. He met her filming "A Hard Day's Night".
A few years later she left him to be with his best friend, Eric
Clapton for whatever reason. George and Eric have remained

I guess some people see a man who is God's representative in this
world.  Others see an old guy in a dress who is head of the world's
largest cult.  Until God settles the argument, that's where I'll leave
it.
