Tori in church certainly was strange. After a couple of songs she looked
around and said something like:

'This is the real thing, ain't it? This is the real deal.' Then, looking
at the pulpit, 'A lot of things have been said up there, by a lot of men.
Some of them were good men. Some of them are our dads... Some of them are
our grandmothers.' This is referring to her dad whose a preacher and her
grandmother who acted like she was one. 'Do you know, when I was five my
grandmother said to me was "Myra Ellen, listen, you should give your body
to your husband, your soul to God, and all your love to Jesus" So I asked,
"Hey grannie! What's left?"'

Another classic Tori anecdote.

The new album is called 'Strange Little Girls' and if you call it a covers
album, she'll flip. Apparently it's a reinterpretations album. She takes
songs written by men - often about women - and sings them from a woman's
perspective. It's obviously quite different from a normal Tori album, but
still very good. There are quite a few accessible tracks such as 'Enjoy
the Silence', 'Rattlesnakes', 'Tori' and 'Time' which have choruses and
hook-lines where as they have been fairly rare on recent Tori albums.
'Happiness is a Warm Gun' and 'Heart of Gold' are 'interpreted' beyond
recognition, and '97 Bonnie and Clyde' (originally by Eminem) is as
chilling as Me and a Gun.

I was lucky enough to get the album a while back as a friend of mine is on
her team. And yes, that does mean he's at Warner, so he is keeping an ear
out for 'A Case of Joni' but as yet, no word.
