You know I really don't give a damn what these people who are always chiding
and sniping at us think at this point. To me it is completely irrelevant
what happened when or how or what. We've been attacked by pure evil.
Period. There is no reasoning in it. There is no way to go back and wring
our hands and think of everything we might have done the past 50 to
"deserve" this. If one did go back, they would mostly find that we, as
usual, were dragged screaming and kicking into these conflicts that were not
of our own making. Americans have always been isolationists by nature. We
really don't like to go running off to fight battles in other countries.
Why would we? At the same time, we continue to send our hard-working
taxpayer dollars and private charity dollars to aid and support people all
over the world who hate us and spit in our face. Why have we gotten
involved in the Middle East? Short answers - to support and help defend
Israel and later, to help defend Kuwait when they were invaded by Iraq. And
yes, also to protect the oil reserves that we are dependent on because we
want to conserve our own and also do not want an environmental problem on
our soil. Whether we should have ever made these decisions is irrelevant
now. The bottom line is that Bin Laden would never, ever be so
well-financed to plot murder against us had we not been sending our American
dollars for oil to his region all these years. Oh we are so terrible - yeah
right. We are the "Great Scapegoat" not the "Great Satan" and no doubt we
will continue letting the rest of the world blame us for everything and spit
in our faces and continue to give them our aid in time of need. We are also
the "Great Suckers."
Retaliation? Give me a break. We are allowed to DEFEND and PROTECT our
country and our citizens, I would think, at this point. And for those who
think this is the typical rantings of a over-zealous patriotic American, I
say go right ahead. Why should I care what you think when you could care
less about our safety and survival or which group of us gets vaporized next
and would rather seek to dredge up reasons why we deserve this. Nobody
deserves this. And for the record, we have not yet gone off and bombed the
hell out of Afghanistan. We are trying every diplomatic avenue possible to
try to resolve this without resorting to that. I wish the people who are so
focused on wanting us to reflect and ponder on our "sins" would focus more
on calling for Bin Laden to cease and desist at this point.
