I meant to comment on this when you wrote about it last week. Last Tuesday
after being woken up to the surreal phone call from my mother about what was
happening, I got it together to high tail it out of downtown. Since all the
offices had told everyone to go back home, the traffic gridlock was
unbelievable with everyone still coming into work and everyone leaving at
the same time. I tried to go east figuring I would take surface streets 30
miles to my parents' house. It took me an hour just to get out of downtown.
When I finally got to my parents' house, Blair was on TV with his words to
us. I have rarely been so struck - it was such a deep and immediate comfort
at that time. He was awesome, just awesome. I am amazed by him, that's all
I can say.
