I have a friend in Atlanta who is a brilliant songwriter. However, he
suffers from paranoia schizophrenia and is in and out of the mental ward at
the hospital. When he takes his medication, he is usually okay, but I think
too often, people have given him acid and other drugs in which case he
doesn't take his medication, which serves only to further screw his mind up.
This has been going on for years. He is a very warm, genuine person and
very caring, even in his madness. He played for many years, in an Atlanta
band, Zen Dixie, along with my friend Mark Richard(wrote HFB).

I see him occasionally these days. Lately he's been in the hospital alot.
At this point, I think drugs are the only thing that keeps him from
completely going mad. Even when he's telling some of the most absurd
stories and conspiracy theories, he's so sincere, almost believable.
