I know she was also mentioned as being a potential guest of the Chieftains on a live television show celebrating their Big 40. The Cheiftains were to do two live shows at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin as well as tour New Zealand and Australia in early November ending with the Saint Patty's Day Parade in New York. But now they've made this anouncement, so I don't know where that puts things or where even Joni was suppose to be in these plans. Chieftains play Memorial Service - 10/8/2001 OCTOBER 8th, 2001 b The Chieftains have played at a special memorial service for Matthew ObMahony, one of the nearly 800 Cantor Fitzgerald employees killed in the September 11 attacks on the WTC. Mr. ObMahonybs wife called The Chieftains with a special request to play at the service, which took place on October 3rd. Touched by the request, The Chieftains agreed to play as both a gesture to the ObMahonys and to give something back to New York and the U.S, where the group have long enjoyed incredible support. Paddy Maloney visited the site of the disaster the following day, playing his whistle for a crowd of firefighters, police and recovery workers. As a result of the September 11 attacks, The Chieftains have postponed their 40th anniversary celebrations.
