And what do you know...it was a winner!! The song on my brain was "Cactus
Tree", the version from her debut.

Howdy Mr. Bob,

Well, I can't believe it.
Lucky guess, I suppose.
I totally pulled that one out of my hat---and just in the nick of time!

Honestly, what a treat.
My horoscope predicted I might win something yesterday---even though I don't
pay any attention to that nonsense.
And I've never even heard one of your 'covers' disc's, Bob.
I just hope this doesn't lead to some sort of chronic addiction ;-)

Anyway, I've always loved "The Dawntreader."
It's one of my absolute favorites from the debut, and I can't wait to hear
the 'remake' she's (supposedly) recorded for the new project.

I'm finally getting myself together this morning after a much needed night of
moderate partying---well into the night last night---with a good friend.
We listened to my new Ryan Adams ("Gold") and the "Felt Mountain" disc by
Goldfrapp I just got---which is a beautiful, elegant type of record (if not
particularly groundbreaking).
Almost overblown at times in a 'James Bond-ish' way, with sweeping, cinematic
production and gorgeous vocals.

And has anyone else heard the new Leona Naess CD?
While it's not very impressive IMO, she sounds uncannily like Edie
Brickell---who must still be chained up somewhere in a cellar, courtesy of
Paul Simon. :-D

Since last year I've been caring for my elderly father who's 82 and in the
throes of Alzheimer's related dementia, so I really needed a break last
night.
It's a particularly sad disease (epidemic?) I hope none of you ever have to
deal with.
He's like a walking shell of the person he once was---and doesn't even
recognize me most of the time. He was also the greatest, most loving and
devoted father a son could ever have---despite a certain amount of
dysfunction. And my mother died many years ago from cancer when I was only 6
years old---but I digress...

Anyhooo, thanks again, Bobby!

XXXOOO,
The usually tortured, used and abused, Mr. Bill
(well, I guess not today ;-)).

And what do you know...it was a winner!! The song on my brain was "Cactus
Tree", the version from her debut. So Billy, just send me your address and a
free copy of Covers #24 will be heading your way.

Thanks to all who gave it a shot...if you want a copy of this gem, let me
know, I'm ready to copy it for anyone for blanks & postage, etc.

Stay tuned for more covers giveaways...plenty more where that came from! :~)
