I think one can also try to avoid being competitive oneself.  

Somebody wrote to me and asked something like "but don't you think it's
important to make sure that the doctors you choose are the best ones?" 

I just want to make it clear that in my previous posts I was speaking about
self-expression - about valuing the attempts of anyone trying to bring
beautiy into the world.   Valuing those attempts within the context of each
individual in relation to her/himself and not in relation to anyone else.

There are areas where determining and selecting excellence is very
important, critical, and essential such as in choosing one's physicians.  I
would never recommend selecting a would-be surgeon so that he can learn his
craft on you or your loved ones - that would be insanity and possibly fatal.
