And according to the 2000 census, you are correct, Paul. California is inching up towards 34 million people at this point. But my friends from Japan used to tell me that was nothing - they have almost the population of the entire U.S. in their country, which is approximately the same size of California! Nevada is the fastest growing state in the U.S. with a 66% increase in population since 1990 (and most of their "immigrants" are from California). > The late great Chicago newspaper columnist Mike Royko once wrote that "God > tilted the United States and all the loose nuts rolled west to California."
