Her livelihood has been made through capitalism, whether it be from the music corporations who promoted and distributed her work or her own corporations which protect her intellectual proerty and her real estate and other investments. It's public record that she fought bitterly for years in litigation against the state of California which had instituted unfair tax laws which were confiscating her earnings and the earnings of other artists. Something I came to know over the years and I won't name names is that a number of those artists from the 60s who were calling for revolution and sharing the wealth were themselves liberally assisted in the establishment of their careers through family trust funds and subsidy.
