oh wow!! ive just been watching the woodstock dvd....what an experience (pun intended..)
i saw the movie at a cinema a while ago & thoroughly loved it - but the experiencce of sitting at home, with hi-fi quality sound is just awesome, the music, the whole vibe,,, & just when you think it cant get any better, when you think that *nothing* can top janis.... along comes jimi & just redefines *all* the boundaries of music,,, his presence, his character,,, his voice,,, his songs,,, and of course his guitar... there are many other great guitarists out there. but somehow, they always seem to be subservient to the instrument..... jimi is the only player ive ever seen (albeit only on dvd) who is an equal with the instrument. other musicians play the instrument, jimi is one with the instrument,,, whose playing who??? i guess we'll never know that fusion of man & instrument again,,,,, those folks who saw jimi live are really, really privilieged. i hope they truly appreciate it,,,,, ron ps - were any of the listers that were there visible in the film - other than in the long range crowd shots.... :-)
