I had tried unsuccessfully to order the S&L video a couple of years ago, perhaps from Amazon (motivated by a gift certificate ;-)). Then, I got a GC from a different source circa this past September, and tried again in October. It was pretty pricey on VHS (cheaper on "DVD), and I was surprised when it arrived just before Christmas - Japanese version, with Japanese lettering as well as English on the cover.
It was a complete version, I believe, and the quality was fine. As compared to the record, there is a solo by Jaco (none by Don) and she does Raised on Robbery, but the last two "album" cuts (Woodstock and GMBABM) as well as Dreamland are not shown. I do not know the Santa Barbara County Bowl from a hole in the ground, so I cannot confirm the venue (the audience was noticeably young to my old eyes). It does have the opening video scenes from Rebel W/O, as well as the Frankie Lymon shots, the Coyote video, and the Hejira video with Toller Cranston, the Amelia shots, Las Vegas on DCFDM, and the appearance by Art Nouveau, etc.) She looked gorgeous (I would underscore this by noting that, given the critical hits she had been taking at that time, her countenance seemed unfettered throughout the performances - here was a person doing exactly what she wanted and was meant to be doing, with no apparent regrets). Are there other versions of the video out there ? Bob S.
