That lyric was moving. I think the saddest thing about many 'grown ups' is
that they choose to forget what it was like to be young. So many choose to
forget childhood. Yet at the same time deny there was anything wrong with
their childhoods. At the same time denying that childhood has any bearing on
adulthood. It all gets swept away under 'childhood is the happiest time'.
The young are dismissed as 'inexperienced' and 'they have nothing to say'.
Sad.
The young frighten the old and fill them with envy. the old make the young
feel worthless..
But worst of all is the 'forgetting' that the earlier generations do. And so
the merry-go-round continues and those that get off are described as mad or
bad or both.
