Marian, I don't know if this is much help but when I produced our SB Tribute, I had the performers play in chronological order & in between the songs I read some info that I had compiled from the JM website...I wasn't sure if this would work but the feedback I got from the audience is that they loved hearing all sorts of info about Joni that was new to them. It wasn't specific to the songs so much as about her life during those periods.
