I remember hearing that it was about Warren when it first came out, but over
the years I have heard a lot of people say they thought it was about Mick. I
think people somehow assume it's about Mick just because he's singing backup,
and because lines like "you had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself
gavotte" sound more like they're about Mick than Warren. But I'm pretty sure
it was written for Warren . . . although there was a time, many hairs ago,
when I was so vain I probably thought this song was about me!
