The bells are really just intended to warn the bear that there is something coming so you don't suddenly round a corner and surprise it. But in the forest they can sound strangely like a bird singing or squirrel complaining. And it's common knowledge that you pepper spray the person beside you and escape while the bear is occupied eating them. Ranger (for real) Rick P.S.
