hello purveyors of all things joni !!! i recently decided to listen to the entire joni catalog back-to-back in chronological order. i thought it would be of interest to hear the progression of her music over the years since her 1968 release of STAS. i proceed to load the first six in my magazine and took it out to my beetle.it is five days later and i am stuck with my head in the " clouds." i had not heard clouds in a while and i guess i was in dire need of a listening. i had forgotten how altogether lovely it is, and so many memories flooded in... the ability of my mind to remember thirty-three year old lyrics when i can't remember what i had for dinner last night never cease to amaze me !!! what a wonderful collection of songs. ' i think i understand ' is truly astonding, and ' roses blue ' really blows me away. i have always been partial to ' that song about the midway,' and at the risk of being burned at the stake for heresy, i will say i believe i like bonnie raitt's version just a wee bit more than joni's. how powerful is joni's a cappella ' the fiddle and the drum' ... i guess you get the point huh ? at this rate it may take me several months to get through them all, maybe even years ! i think tomarrow i will move on to LOTC. ( don't even get me started, this is the album that introduced me to joni in 1970 ! ) i'll let ya'll know when i've move on to " blue," but don't hold your breath... oh, before i leave, it strikes me that james taylor has always referred to our goddess as joan, i also believe graham nash does too. i have a friend who lived in hollywood until recently and i remember her relating once that a friend of her's,i think his name was rocky, was working with joni on a video from NRH. he was a regular bowling buddy of joni's and he too called her joan, looks as if the evidence is mounting...
in joan we trust, warren keith p.s. speaking of graham nash... A&E's biography tonight is on the bloke, i personally think there is going to be a joni mention ! later...
