I, too was astounded by this woman's range, her talent in merging melody with deconstructive lyrics and her Mensa-level intelligence. I got a handle of her talent via a various-artists cast recording of Kurt Weill songs. Since then, I have been on the lookout for her MISS AMERICA album. Most message boards I come across in the Net rave for that album's genius. The only negative thing is that its rare (I ordered mine in Canada). If it hadn't been for that order, I would have probably contacted her sister Catherine (Hollywood actress) and ask her about MM (ha!).
There is something quite fragile and rare about her voice in MISS AMERICA. Andy Partridge of XTC was reportedly enlisted to be one of the musicians for that album but because of the impossible demands of MM he bowed out. As for the Christmas ep, I haven't come across of it yet even in the Net. By the way, the very first time MM was mentioned in a magazine, it was on the occasion of intelligent singers.
