You know its just like that Joni Mitchell interview. Unless you hear it come out of her mouth you really don't know what the meaning and intent was behind what was said. You need the whole picture. You are right it does NOT scan as a great line but he could have sung it in a way that it conjured up the world to you.Lama
I think this is why we all like Joni. She has a quality in her writing that makes you understand what she is saying by merely reading it. Few are this descriptive and visual in writing. (Then she puts on the vocals and music and WOW!)
