Willem Dafoe was superb in Scorsese's film of Kazantzakis Last Temptation of Christ, I thought, just excellent. And it was a great movie too and a very important book. Dafoe was at the heart of the Jesus in Kazantzakis' book, and I thought a very gutsy performance.
Just my opinion.
