Since many of you over the years of Jonifest have met my sweet, sweet companion of many years, I thought you would want to know this sad news. My loving and faithful German Shepherd, Pippin, has been as much a part of Jonifest as tequila and guitars. She endured being dressed up with a Joni t-shirt and had the benefit of many, many hugs from all of you that have visited my home. Several people still ask about her when we e-mail and IM each other. Sadly, Pippin has been failing over the past year, and this weekend has really gone downhill. The decision to put her down has not been an easy one, and I have struggled back and forth with the decision for many months. I can only believe that her rapid decline this weekend was her way of helping me to know she is ready to go. I will be calling the vet tomorrow, and hope they can take us tomorrow afternoon. Thanks to all of you that showed such kindness to her while you were here.
