sometimes a friend bears the weight of all our associations. a child bears (and sometimes resents) the name of her grandmother. a pet might bear so many more unreasonable dreams. i admit, i've loved pippin both for the tolkeinish name, and also for the musical comedy name. i shared that with ashara.
but i have also loved pippin, the dog, through many years and jonifests, for his good nature, his gentle companionship... he has been one of the sweetest mammals i've been blessed to cross paths with. i deeply respect you, ashara, for forthrightly facing the decision you have to make. i send so much love and support your direction, to you and pippin. the end of his life will be as deeply cared-for as the rest of his life has been, and that is truly a blessing. he couldn't have been luckier... patrick np - something from t'log >"Merry and Pippin climbed on to the bed and curled up in the soft grass and >fern.
