The best For Free to me is the live version she performed with the beautifully
evocative extra chorus. She adds this at the end of the normal verses:
Playing like a fallen angel
Playing like a rising star
Playing for a hatful of nothing
To the honking of the cars.
It changes the whole song for me in good ways - can't really explain it but it
is breathtaking. It would be great if she would record a clean version.
I believe she did this on the '83 Refuge tour.
