But first, "another person" must be raised by someone:  either by the 
birth mother, who for some reason felt she should not or could not go 
through with the pregnancy, or by someone else.  If by the latter, the 
infant will likely be placed in some sort of overburdened facility 
prior to foster care or adoption.  The chances of successful foster 
care and/or adoption depend a great deal on the race, health (and 
eventually age) of the child.  Then, whether the child is placed in a 
healthy and "functional" family ... well, that's a crap shoot.

Tell you what, Bree:  once all the children awaiting adoption are 
placed into safe and loving homes, let's revisit choice and winning and 
losing.
