That may be true as well. Perhaps Joni was using the imagery of the
stained-glass windows from the church/house where she stayed as a young
mother when she wrote "Chelsea Morning" later in New York City. Many of
Joni's stories may not be true word for word, but the emotional inspiration
behind the songs seem to be true. Joni may have rescued the stain-glassed
windows by bringing them to life in her song. In the song "Morning
Morgantown" she also sings about "I'd like to buy you everything.....A
window full of colored rings".
