Victor came to town last night, on his way to Asheville to work on his latest project "Parsonage Lane". He was scheduled to be the opening act for a folk duo out of Canada called "Martha's Trouble". But trouble was what they had, car trouble to be exact, so that left the evening's entertainment on our Victor's musically capable shoulders, which was a good thing as far as I was concerned. Unfortunately, because of the yukky weather and the cancellation, very few people showed up.
Of course, those of us who did got a fine treat. Victor's sets were lovely & very well-received. He played just about everything from his upcoming CD, including a samba song called "Broken Candles" which I thought was just beautiful. Can't wait to hear the studio version of this one with bass, trumpet, and other colors. Adding to the delightful show were covers of "Amelia", Jimi's "Angel", and George Harrison's "Give Me Love", interwoven with a Victor original. It was a pleasure to see & hear Victor, and great to see him in such good spirits! We retreated back to my place to groove on some Joni covers, dish some JMDL dirt, and chill out a bit before calling it a night. Bob NP: Lightnin' Hopkins, "Prison Blues Come Down On Me"
