You could do worse than sound like Sandy Denny. I much
prefer her voice over Joan Baez's (I hate vibrato). In
fact, if I dare be so blasphemous, I prefer Sandy
Denny's voice to Joni's (not that I'm complaining
about Joni's.)

My Joni wannabe-ness was growing my hair long and
bleaching it to make it blonde. I don't get how a
person who started life as a strawberry blonde could
have ended up mousey brown, but such is my life. I'm
not sure what my original colour is anymore (apart
from grey, that is) as I haven't given Mother Nature a
chance to show me yet. That takes more courage than I
have. The other thing was playing the guitar - when
the music book for "For the roses" came out and they
used the open tunings for some of the songs for the
first time in one of those, that was a major
revelation for me - I could have been in heaven.
