I'm not sure if it was an advertising slogan, but Humble Oil was a 
subsidiary of Standard Oil, which owned American and ESSO (which is the 
phoenetic pronounciation of "S.O."), among others.  I'm pretty sure 
Humble Oil and Pure were business partners as well.
