Dear Helvecio, I have J!1.6 beta 5 installed and I've just checked and it does not seem to have any of the Gantry features.
I'm not a fan of Gantry because I'm not a designer like yourself and mostly because my users have to disable the Build Spans feature in order to work with MooFAQ<http://ideal.fok.com.br/joomla-extensions/component-moofaq.html> .
