Good news. In the context of an entirely different issue, I've now fixed this partially as can be seen here: https://github.com/jOOQ/jOOQ/commit/6d9bff6883260534c8a8d92eb8e7cbf1567f8bb9
The relevant issue is: https://github.com/jOOQ/jOOQ/issues/4471 The new algorithm is: - Return exact matches (schema / table / colum names match) - Return qualified approximate matches (table / column names match) - Return approximate matches (column names match) While I'm still not 100% sure if we should go on with https://github.com/jOOQ/jOOQ/issues/4455, the above is certainly reasonable from a backwards-compatibility perspective.
