Frederik I agree entirely with you. Working with JOSM editor, recently, I was cutting and replacing part of coastlines. I wanted to be sure to do it right and avoid eventual rendering problems. I was also saving often. Every time I had to go through a list of verifications not knowing if my edit was adding anything to the list.
This over verification may become counterproductive since contributors may have the reaction to always ignore validation messages.
