Dear friends in Jesus
I am very sorry for not being able to communicate
with you for a long time, for I was travelling from
one mission station to another. So I could neither
read nor send any emails.
In this mission journey the Lord made me reach even to
places where never a catholic priest could reach
before. In some houses the people were immensely happy
telling that a priest of Christ is entering their home
for the first time. All of them lived inside the
jungle.We had to travel long hours to find a house.
Though on the horseback, we could reach 3-4 houses a
day, although we were travelling the whole day. In
some houses people were found very very poor, that
they did not have a second set of clothes even to
change the one they wore. So very dirty they looked.
In many of the houses had children very dangerously
sick; but they don't go to a hospital. When I asked
them why they did not take their sick children to a
hospital, many of them told me that they did not know
how to go out of the jungle, because they never did
it. I am speaking of the people who live without
having any neighbours; those live as a group have
better conditions.
In one community we found almost 20 houses,though they
told us that they are catholics, they had no religious
activities.They had no place to worship the Lord. We
urged and encouraged them to "construct" a chapel.
They did it with bamboo and leaves...a small hut for
the Lord.When it rains we cannot stay inside,because
the roof is of small leaves, but it is beautiful. We
blessed it last Sunday, and came back, promising to
return after 2 months for baptizing the non-baptized.
They are waiting for that grand feast.
Dear friends, I felt many times during this mission
trip that some one is praying for us. The Lord was
doing it wonderfully. Many nights I was all alone in a
hut, knowing that the nearest neighbour lives
kilo-meters away. And I really prayed the Hymn of the
night prayer:"Alone..with none..but Thee, Oh Lord...."
