My dear friends in Jesus,
Here it is 2.29 am midnight now. I type this mail at
this hour because I am so much worried about little
Carlos and, so, cannot sleep.
It is the season of mangos here in the coastal part of
Ecuador. Many people live selling mangoes. Carlos is
also a mango-seller. But he is only 10 years of old.
He is almost an orphan. Because his mother abandoned
him when he was still very little. Later his father
also left him. He is looked after by his aunty. They
are very, very poor and live on selling mangos.
Two days ago when he was climbing on a mango tree to
pluck mangos, he fell down and had very grave
injuries. He was unconscious when he was taken to the
hospital and still continues to be unconscious and is
in a coma. We could visit him only the next day,as the
hospital is a little far away from us. When we reached
there we were really saddened to know that even after
24 hours, not even once a doctor attended him. Since
they had no money the hospital authorities just
ignored him who was actually about to die. We went to
the doctor and talked to him. And he finally came and
examined Carlos only to tell us that he cannot do
anything. He suggested to take him to the capital
city. But it needs 10 hours to reach there. And the
ambulance fee was 100 dollars. His aunty had not even
a cent.
Then we ran to the Bishop to request for a help. He
readily paid for the ambulance. And they went to the
capital city immediately. But the worse was expecting
them. There the hospital authorities refused to give
that unconscious boy who is still in a coma even a bed
to lie down, unless they paid 450 dollars.
My dear friends, we are in Advent. The world is
preparing to make wonderful Cribs. We are preparing to
celebrate the birth of child Jesus.
But here is a lady and a little child who is in a
coma, with nowhere to lie down, with nowhere to go,
with nobody to help..….
Please take him as your Unknown Christmas Friend and
pray for him.
